Uttar Pradesh is set to revolutionize tourism with the introduction of helicopter services connecting key destinations, including Mathura, Agra, Ayodhya, Lucknow, Prayagraj, Kapilavastu, Varanasi, and Naimisharanya. The state government, in a unique move, plans to launch the service on December 25, the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The project, operating in Public-Private Partnership mode, aims to enhance tourism in the region. Jaiveer Singh, the Minister of Tourism and Culture in Uttar Pradesh, expressed excitement about the new initiative, stating, "Adding yet another flavor to UP tourism, we are set to introduce helicopter services in Agra and Mathura." Initially, the helicopter services will focus on Mathura, offering three types of tours. These include a 'parikrama' of Govardhan Parvat, an aerial tour of the entire town, and a connectivity tour. A recent trial ride completed a 21km circumnavigation of Govardhan Parvat in just seven minutes. Seven-seater helicopters will be deployed initially, with the possibility of increasing the fleet based on demand. In Agra, the tourism department has planned an 'Agra air safari,' providing tourists with an aerial view of the Taj Mahal and other heritage structures in Agra and Fatehpur. Additionally, connectivity services will allow helicopters to ferry tourists from Agra to Delhi on demand. The department has also introduced a hot air balloon safari in Agra. Rajas Aerosports and Adventures Private Limited, owned by Commandant Manish Saini, an ex-Army officer, has partnered with the UP government for the helicopter services. The innovative approach aims to boost tourism in the region and offer a unique experience to pilgrims and tourists alike.
